Alright, so if you are in the green beauty community and you also happen to blog, chances are you most certainly know about a certain Ms. Pemberley Jones. Her blogs and reviews are super helpful, from DIY hair masks to informing you about her newest favorite eye cream. (You know my weak spot is eye creams…I can’t get enough!)
When Pemberley launched her store a few months back, I was not only extremely happy for her, but I was ready to get on that bandwagon. Her motto is so universal yet so supremely awesome:
Go natural, stay beautiful.
She features brands like Caru Skincare, Meow Meow Tweet, Weleda, Osmia, Lina Hanson, Kahina Giving Beauty, Acure, Benecos, Alima, Waxelene and RGB…just to name a few! She offers free shipping on orders over $75, and you will receive the most adorable little polka dot-packaged surprise in the mail, as well as some samples of our favorite natural brands.
Here’s what I got and LOVED from my #pemjo haul!
Weleda Rose Bar Soap
I love Welda as a brand. I first got introduced to Weleda during swimsuit season a few years ago when I was looking for body oils that helped with cellulite. Needless to say, their Birch Tree Cellulite Oil became a quick favorite in my house. I decided to hop on the rose scented express train (rose seems to just be everywhere now) and went with their rose soap, in bar form (3.5 oz. for $11), because it seemed like it would be a lovely, lathery experience. It WAS. I LOVE this soap. It’s scented with rose extract and essential oils for a very fragrant shower experience, and the darn thing lasts forever. The rose is strong, which I love, and it’s wonderful for shaving, but if you have very sensitive skin, or you are sensitive to flowery scents – this may not be the soap for you.
Before I started following a natural beauty regimen, I would have never bought bar soaps. I thought they wouldn’t last me very long, and they always reminded of childhood camping…where all we had was yellow Dial soap. It smelled like teen angst and corporal punishment. Turns out, a lot has changed since the ’90s, and bar soaps not only last a long time, but can give you a lather and cleaning up that you sometimes can’t get with liquid soaps. I keep all my favorite bar soaps in different glass soap dishes away from my shower, on my counter by my sink, and then take them in and out of the shower as I please. I never keep my bar soaps in the shower to melt away. This helps them last longer and also not look mushy and disgusting if you share a shower with, say, your hairy manfriend, like me.
Alima Pure Luminous Shimmer Powder in Whisper
I thought this would be a super fun little addition to my makeup routine for summer. I LOVE just a kiss of shimmer, but you know, not GLITTER. Well, OK, if I could get away with glitter, I would. But some got in my eye last time I tried it and I had to go to the ER and it wasn’t pretty. I looked like a pirate with the eye patch I had to wear in the subsequent weeks following “the incident.”)
Enter: Luminous Shimmer Powder ($20)! I am very fair skinned, and so I ordered it in the lightest shade possible: Whisper. It goes on very sheer, and a little goes a LONG way. I wouldn’t suggest wearing this over say…acne, if you’re having a breakout. It kind of amplifies your pimples if you have some that day, but overall, I have loved wearing this over my Josie Maran tinted moisturizer for a nice sea-kissed look (a har, matey!). It wears all day, and is very subtle. I put mine on with a kabuki brush, and swipe it over the top of my forehead, nose, chin, and below and above my cheekbones to offset my blush. Super light and fun for gals who like a little more shimmer.
Alima Pure Pearluster Eyeshadow in Champagne
This eyeshadow was a great pick to go with the Luminous Shimmer Powder: the colors really complement each other! This shadow ($12.50) is a great base shadow to give you that “just barely wearing any makeup” look. It lasts a good amount of time (and I have kind of greasy eyelids)…6ish hours before I saw a crease. It’s light and works well with a darker complement crease shadow color because of its light oatmeal-ish color. It’s very natural feeling, and doesn’t weigh on your eyes like some mineral shadows can. Alima’s products have so few ingredients, which makes me feel good about wearing them on my face all day. Thanks for introducing me to this awesome brand, Ms. Jones!
Have you bought from Pemjo’s store yet? Every week it seems like she gets in something new and exciting. What’s your new obsession? What are you LUSTING over?
